Module 5 – Governance, Leadership and Organisational Systems

This module examines the organisational, legal and professional systems that underpin effective infection prevention and control. Students explore clinical governance, legislation, ethical decision-making, leadership, organisational culture and quality improvement before integrating infection prevention into contemporary occupational therapy practice. The module concludes by examining future directions, lifelong learning and the Occupational Therapist’s role in promoting safe, evidence-based, person-centred and sustainable healthcare through the One Health framework.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this module, students will be able to:

1. Explain the governance, legal and professional frameworks that underpin infection prevention and control.
