Personal Reflection

Think about a situation where communicating about your Assistance Animal could become difficult, particularly if you were tired, distressed, overwhelmed, non-speaking, experiencing communication difficulties, or simply did not want to have a lengthy conversation.

What communication tools or strategies could make self-advocacy easier for you, and which would you realistically use?

You might consider written scripts, AAC, email, a support person, WAFA Assistance Animal information cards, QR-linked information, asking for additional processing time, requesting written communication, or postponing the conversation.
