Self-advocacy does not have to mean being confident, confrontational, highly verbal, or able to respond immediately.
What does effective self-advocacy look like for you personally?
Consider:
- how you communicate best;
- what happens to your communication when you are stressed;
- whether you prefer to respond immediately or later;
- when you might ask another person for support;
- what boundaries are important to you; and
- what would make you consider an advocacy interaction successful.
